••• Maman Tribeca opens tomorrow next week, says the New York Times: “The front room, for food to go, will have about 15 seats and after 5 p.m. will morph into a lounge featuring wine, charcuterie and toasts with spreads like tapenades. The dining room, reached through French doors, will offer Armand Arnal’s specialties, like marinated scallops, braised beef cheeks and baba au rhum with pineapple. There will even be a ‘”stroller valet.'” I wondered how they’d deal with those stairs. UPDATE 12/9: Maman is evidently opening a week from today. The NYT item said Maman is opening “Wednesday,” and since the article was posted online on Tuesday, one would naturally assume that the Wednesday in question is the very next day, not a week later.

••• “”‘You are my everything’ is a lousy pop-song lyric and an even worse relationship plan. No one can be ‘everything’ to anyone. Create relationships outside The Relationship, or The Relationship isn’t going to work anymore.'” —Tribeca Therapy‘s Matt Lundquist in The Greatist
••• Pete Wells reviews Sessanta in the New York Times; one star. Best part: “Then there are the shiny, slender creatures who stream up and down Manhattan in schools of four or more, usually grouped by sex, eyes darting to see who is swimming nearby. They like to feed on Italian food in crowded hotel restaurants, for reasons naturalists don’t fully understand.” Also this line, a fine example of how Wells is so good: “Martin Brudnizki Design Studio’s dining room and lounge have a crisp midcentury-Italian confidence, with space left between the tables for added comfort and better sightlines. The aesthetic is polished and urbane, more negroni than Chianti.”

Is that “topper” for real? It looks like a joke.
