January 28, 2016 Restaurant/Bar News
A sharp-eyed reader noticed the subtle “TASTE CHINESE RESTAURANT” sign going up at Taco House (178 Church) this afternoon. Fear not! Taco House is not closing. In two to three weeks, it’ll simply be serving both Mexican Tex-Mex food and Chinese food, although I don’t think we can hope for anything but accidental fusion. UPDATE 1/29: A new sign on the door says it’ll start serving Chinese food in “one to two weeks, around 2/3/2016.”

New Fresco Tortillas on Reade does Mexican and Chinese and the Chinese is not too bad and super cheap. Mexican options are good too.
Could we have a poll of where everyone orders Chinese delivery/take-out in the ‘hood? I still haven’t found my go-to spot and I’ve been living in TriBeCa for 10 years, as nothing comes close to the take-out joint I frequented in Forest Hills where I grew up.
Grand Sichuan is our favorite Chinese restaurant. 15 7 th ave South and Leroy st. The place is always busy and they deliver to Tribeca. Excellent food and friendly staff.
My Chinese options for Tribeca/BPC delivery:
Red Egg
Famous Sichuan
China Blue
Excellent Dumpling House 111 Lafayette St
The dumplings are indeed excellent, thought during the blizzard weekend the other stuff less so. Open only till 9pm
Jing Fong — http://jingfongny.com/
They deliver in Tribeca.
Try No.1 Chinese. Open 7 days, fast delivery. The food is old school and very good.
China Blue. We initially thought it was too expensive but it depends on what you order. The quality and taste are excellent and consistent.
I vote for China Blue also (although it’s much better if you eat there.)
