••• Il Mattone has soft-opened in its new location at 49 Beach. The stove isn’t on yet, so you’ll mainly find pizzas, salads, and sandwiches; the full menu will be available in time. The space looks sharp.
••• The 14th Factory’s big art show at 23 Wall, which had been scheduled to open this upcoming Friday, has been canceled. (See below.) Still happening: The Portal art fair.
••• From Downtown Alliance: “Lower Manhattan’s popular community food fair, Dine Around Downtown, will return to 28 Liberty Plaza on Wednesday, June 8, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Signature menu items will be available from participating restaurants for between $3-$7. Music will be provided by The National Jazz Museum in Harlem All-Stars.”
••• Soho Photo‘s Affordable Photography Fair is May 13-16; all prints are $100.
••• Imperial Development Group, which is converting 372 Broadway (a.k.a. 6 Cortlandt Alley), bought the retail condo at 356 Broadway—not something I’d usually mention, except its rendering of what could be is appealing.
