Seen & Heard: Lady M Confections Is Opening Down Here

••• I signed up for the Westfield World Trade Center/Fulton Center job fair, not because my destiny is to work at Forever 21 but because I thought I might learn about more businesses opening in the WTC mall. Luckily, I’m not going to have to actually attend, because the fair sent out a list of the participating businesses. Of note…. Lady M Confections is among them, which is very exciting news for any of us who love a mille crêpe cake. (It has to be at the WTC, because Fulton Center is just too low-end.) The list also includes Christian Dior Parfums, so maybe the Dior store in the Oculus is only for fragrance? And then there’s ISS, which I couldn’t find anything online about, unless the International Space Station is hiring. Last and possibly least, the Little Hunter restaurant in the West Passageway (between Brookfield Place and the WTC) is listed as Little Hunter Burgers, which offers some clarity as to what we can expect from it.

••• Hank of the Juicy Beef says he’s hoping to open the end of this week or maybe Tuesday, July 5.

••• KP is soliciting your advice: “Can you or anyone in the neighborhood recommend a kosher butcher in our area?” I’ve never heard of one….

••• Flyers for the TV show “Younger” are posted on Warren (and Church, and Reade…); the shoot is Friday and Saturday.

••• The next meeting of the 1st Precinct Community Council is Thursday, June 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the precinct house: “Come learn about what is happening in your community and have your concerns addressed.” How about patrol cars driving the wrong way on W. Broadway?

••• 174 Duane looks nice. It was shrouded for a while, no?

174 Duane••• The former Warburg Realty office at Leonard and Hudson (it moved further up Hudson) no longer has a “for rent” sign in the window. Anyone know anything?

  1. There’s no kosher beef in Tribeca. Kosher chicken is available at Whole Foods in Tribeca and I have worked with them to increase their supply. Trader Joes on 14 St carries a limited selection of kosher beef. For an actual kosher butcher, one has to go to the Lower East Side (not a high quality choice) or Upper East Side, Upper West Side or Brooklyn.

    • Thank you, Iris! That’s exactly what I found, as well but was hoping for an alternative I wasn’t aware of in the neighborhood. If you could kindly tell me who you’re working with at Whole Foods, perhaps I can try to help increase their Kosher supply, too. Right now, I use Fresh Direct for Kosher meat when I don’t have the time to head to the UES.
