••• From noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Boomerang Toys is having a special event to celebrate its 14th year in Tribeca. “We will have face painting, activities for kids to do and take home, and giveaways,” says owner Karen Barwick.
••• The annual Friends of Fashion pop-up shop benefiting P.S. 234 is Nov. 14-18 at 295 Greenwich, next to Gee Whiz.
••• Something is definitely happening at 416 Washington, where South of Market briefly was. Anyone know what?
••• I skipped last night’s Community Board 1 Tribeca Committee meeting—technically, I showed up and left before it started—when the agenda was down to three items (below). Instead, I’ll go to tonight’s Landmarks Committee meeting, which has several rooftop additions on the agenda.
—The expansion of Lyons Den Power Yoga: Facilities with showers need a special city permit to make sure they’re not dens of iniquity, and I don’t think CB1 has ever rejected one.
—A liquor license for Aire Ancient Baths on Franklin: I imagine it’s either for the spa’s wine-bath treatment or so it can host special events, neither of which is particularly controversial.
—A Tribeca Trust presentation updating the committee on its priorities.
••• Opening Nov. 15 at R & Company: “The Haas Brothers exhibition, King Dong Come [….] This is The Haas Brothers’ second solo exhibition with the gallery and an exciting presentation of all new work. Spanning the entire upper gallery, King Dong Come is a fully immersive experience, with an array of uniquely fantastical plants, animals and creatures.”
