••• Lyons Den Power Yoga posted on Instagram that the expansion of its Tribeca studio is expected to be ready in February. Moreover, construction starts this month on a new studio in Chelsea.
••• You know the secretive event space on Duane that’s been frustrating the neighbors? Josh commented that his understanding is that it’s “a private Apple apartment showcase of the future hosting technologies, connected devices, Internet of things.” UPDATE: “Apple did use the space to unveil its new iPhones etc to press a few months ago, which I attended, but they’ve done so at other venues and hotels in the past,” says A. “So I’m not sure that they’ve taken up a permanent residence somewhere. There have also been fashion-related events at 144 Duane—Kylie and Kendall Jenner’s fashion line presentation, etc.”
••• Lotus Salon’s transformation into Tokuyama Salon is nearly complete. There are other Tokuyama locations on the Upper East Side and in the East Village
••• I don’t think I’ve posted a photo of the Canal side of the conversion of 308 Canal, formerly home to Pearl Paint. The mock-up to the west is for a proposed addition to those two buildings (which the Landmarks Preservation Commission sent back to the drawing board).
••• Wolf & Badger (“the world’s best independent brands”) is opening on Grand between Mercer and Greene.
••• 71-73 Franklin, which is being converted to residences (and getting a penthouse addition), has two retail spaces. The eastern one has been vacant for a while, and now artist Peter Tunney has left the western one. I think it happened recently, but I don’t often walk on that part of Franklin because the Cast Iron House conversion at 361 Broadway forces pedestrians to cross the street.
