In the News: NYPD Toll Evaders

••• Nili Lotan has opened a pop-up on Mercer aimed at younger customers who have likely been drawn to the brand by Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. The pop-up will travel to other cities. —New York Times

••• A stalker bothered Malia Obama at her internship in Tribeca. The New York Daily News first called him “lovelorn,” then rightly removed it when people pointed out how inappropriate that was.

••• “Tribeca Equinox worker charged in $5k Rolex gym theft.” And other thefts in the Tribeca Trib police blotter.

••• Streetsblog has more on @placardabuse‘s efforts to get the NYPD to police itself: “In the parking lot at NYPD headquarters, @placardabuse has documented cars with folded license plates and some with no license plates at all. All this license plate fraud comes on top of garden variety placard abuse like parking illegally on sidewalks and in no standing zones, interfering with deliveries and pedestrian movement.”

••• YIMBY interviewed architect Robert Whitlock of Kohn Pedersen Fox about 111 Murray, and there’s some interesting stuff about the elevator banks—”the design team added a fourth elevator, allowing for elevators to open directly into every unit except for the east-facing ones in the building’s lower third (there, two units would share common vestibules)”—and the benefits of the curved shape with regard to wind resistance. Below: A rendering by Relevance NY and a floor plan for the 40th floor.
