The marina at Pier 25 is now being run by the crew behind the popular Grand Banks restaurant/bar and Atlantic Yachting at the 79th Street Boat Basin. “We’re starting a sailing school here, and we’ll also be running a summer camp for kids,” says Alexander Pincus. “Atlantic Yachting was the first kids’ sailing camp in New York City when we started in 2006, and now it’s the longest-running one in Manhattan.” He promises the marina will be more community-oriented than the way Liberty Landing has run it (“The goal is to get more people on the water”), with a lot less boat traffic coming in and out. The season kicks off May 15; for more info, visit pier25marina.com.
Erik,
This is Fantastic news…. After a few years of reading sad stories related to boating & piers happy to hear that the Grand Banks team is involved in Pier 25 (and not some politico “friend”)
Looking forward to all the developments this summer
