New York magazine reports that Allied Maker, a lighting company, is opening its first New York City store at 81 Franklin—it’s the left door in the banks of storefronts pictrued above. If the name—or the aesthetic–look familiar, you might recognize it from Colony, the design co-op on Canal, where the company has been featured since Colony opened. According to New York, the store opens on October 26.
Here’s more on Allied Maker from its website:
Allied Maker is a Long Island-based design and manufacturing studio established in 2012 by designer Ryden Rizzo. Evolving from Rizzo’s background in jewelry, installation art, woodworking, and metal fabrication, the company creates meticulously engineered lighting fixtures, handcrafted both in Allied Maker’s workshop and by top New York fabricators. The studio’s aesthetic combines outstanding natural materials with simple yet expressive forms. Inspired by raw materials that grow more beautiful with time, Allied Maker has developed signature hand-applied finishes that will develop a beautiful patina with age.
