“Jill Lindsey is a powerhouse,” wrote Racked last year. “She’s a woman, a Brooklynite, and a designer who dabbles in apparel, shoes, and furniture. But most New Yorkers probably know the name Jill Lindsey from the Fort Greene shop that she opened in 2014. It includes her own product, brands she knows and loves, and a café and wellness center that play host to near-daily events. That in itself is a lot for one person to handle, and Lindsey’s only just getting started.”
Indeed, she subsequently opened a second shop/space in Malibu, and now—thanks to a beer/wine license application on the Community Board 1 September agendas (annotated agendas to be posted soon)—we know she’s coming to Manhattan. Here’s her response when I emailed about it:
I am beyond excited to open in Tribeca! It’s 4,200 square feet of magic on the lower level at 104 Reade [below Reade Street Prep’s original campus]. It is a larger version of my Brooklyn location offering the artisan department store, café featuring coffee, tea, wine, beer and snacks. Event space including our sing-alongs, crafting workshops, supper clubs, etc. and the other half will be for our private treatment rooms featuring facials, massage, reiki, sound healing, ayurveda wellness and a 2,000-square-foot space for fitness classes. Pilates, yoga, dance, and meditation. I am so excited to bring this amazing business to the Tribeca community! I am shooting to soft open beginning of October.
We’ll learn more at the CB1 Licensing Committee meeting on September 13, and even more when it opens. Below: a preview of the fitness space, pre-build-out.
