••• “From books to bras, supermodel Sara Sampaio’s top picks for summer.” She lives in Tribeca, but she’s not a supermodel if I haven’t heard of her. —New York Post
••• Tribeca Design District Night is May 17: “Showrooms in the neighborhood, including David Weeks Studio, Lambert & Fils, Montauk Sofa and Stillfried Wien, will have extended hours and host cocktail events and exhibition openings.” Lambert & Fils is a lighting company that now shares Montauk Sofa’s space at 42 Lispenard. —New York Times
••• “A controversial scheme under which a developer planning a super-tall skyscraper [45 Broad] in the Financial District will gain the right to add more than 71,000 square feet of additional market-rate apartments to the building in exchange for constructing two subway elevators nearby has cleared its last hurdle.” —Broadsheet
••• The New York Times profiles the condo under construction at 1 Beekman. (The rendering doesn’t show the 59-story building already well underway next door at 25 Park Row.) I’ve been wondering how 1 Beekman will shape up, because it’s hard to tell what the facade will look like. “To the north, ‘the front of the building opens up like a flower,’ with walls of windows framed by anthracite-hued aluminum and perforated copper screens, said Glauco Lolli-Ghetti, the principal of Urban Muse. […] The design at the front riffs on the cast-iron architecture of Soho, said [architect Graham] Stirk. ‘It’s not curtain wall,’ he noted. ‘There’s a richness to the surface depth.’ The warm hue of the copper, meanwhile, is meant to pick up on the color of neighboring buildings, like the red brick and terra cotta of the Beekman hotel.” Also of note: “The building includes retail space on the first two floors, and office space on the third and fourth floors.”
Ha! Every model is a super model now and every porn actress is a porn star!
Almost everyone nowadays acts as if she is a supermodel. Just look at the brunchers and the weekend and nighttime warriors walking around in their Miu Mius and Jimmy Choos and entourage in SoHo, Meatpacking District (MePa, ugh) and Tribeca, treating the sidewalks and streets as if they’re their own personal catwalk and studios. Now turn to the right, sashay, sashay. sashay. Girl, you better work!
