Seen & Heard: Maharishi Opening Forecast

••• Here’s a photo of Il Mulino. Seems unlikely they’d hang all those photos if the restaurant is nearing completion.

••• I overheard a construction worker at the Maharishi on Lispenard say that the store is about a month from being done.

••• We can add the Tribeca Synagogue to the list of of places that one can rent out. (The rate is $7,000 per day.) Love this part of the Appear Here listing: “People come [to Tribeca] to shop and eat during the day and in the early evenings, and stay for the clubs until late.”

••• Much of the news about 80 White, currently undergoing an attractive restoration, has been focused on Artists Space’s forthcoming 8,000-square-foot gallery on the ground floor and lower level (I think). But the Bronx Museum of the Arts is also opening a 4,500-square-foot facility on the second floor for its Artists in the Marketplace professional development program. In the fall of 2016, Crain’s reported, “Donated by General Hardware Co.—a longtime donor to the AIM program—the building will offer five free studios for artists, as well as exhibition and public programming spaces.” The museum said it’d send out a release in the next couple of weeks.

••• I’m 100% for people identifying however they like, but don’t men’s and women’s bodies tend to be shaped differently? And that name! I know it riffs off “gender-fluid,” but still…. (The store is at Broadway and Great Jones.)

  1. They should have called the store “Woke” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adPXDTvADD0

  2. Back in the day, “pink it and shrink it” was how men’s clothing was adapted for women.

    It didn’t work.
