Thanks to TribecaMom for the heads-up that Brooklyn Game Lab is opening a Tribeca location, its first in Manhattan. According to the website, it’ll be at 119 Chambers, where the Housing Works Thrift Store is until November 25. Brooklyn Game Lab describes itself thus:
Sure, our kids play the best board and card games in the universe. These games encourage critical thinking, literacy skills, problem solving, emotional intelligence, plus, they’re fun! But, afterwards kids deconstruct the game…. They create game modifications, and write notes about how these new rules, new characters, or other changes could be make the game more exciting, unusual, or competitive. They present these ideas in small groups, ideas are debated, and some get incorporated into game play. Kids are rewarded with merits for their accomplishments and contributions during each session. When they reach Level 7, they join one of our 5 clans, which compete on the largest youth board game on the planet.
According to its Facebook page, there are also “adult game nights, private parties, and game sales.”
