April 1, 2019 Arts & Culture, Restaurant/Bar News
Arts Brookfield and Third Rail Projects will present a site-specific pop-up, OASIS, for the Winter Garden starting today till April 12. Set in the 1980s, when the building first opened, four over-worked “dreamers” take their daily lunch breaks inside the Winter Garden. Longing for relief from the daily grind, they find themselves unexpectedly swept into a mirage that appears on the staircase. As the story unfolds over 10 episodes, these strangers find themselves uniting in unexpected ways. After a two-week series of lunchtime vignettes, a culminating performance will occur on the evening on Friday, April 12, combining all of the previous episodes.
The weekday performances are 10-minutes long and will be performed at noon and 1; the final full-length performance will run at 7:30p. For more information visit https://bfplny.com/stories/oasis.
ARTIST TALK AT AMEDEE GALLERY
The artist Charlie Goering will speak at a closing reception of his show Without Definition (Attempts at Clarity) at the Steven Amedee Gallery, 41 N. Moore, on April 4 from 6 to 9p. The exhibit includes paintings that span two recent and distinct bodies of work: earlier figurative works and graphic and surreal later works. A graduate of Laguna College of Art and Design and former Florence Academy of Art student, Goering is also the recipient of the 2017 grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation and has been teaching abroad at the Barcelona Academy of Art.

Bivetto, will cover the 1,000-year period of European exploration leading to discovery and colonization of the Americas, with special attention to Lower Manhattan, at a talk on April 2 at 1p, at 6 River Terrace. The event is for two and is listed on Charitybuzz here. Auction closes April 2 at 3p. Last I checked bids were at $32,000.
KOSHER STEAKS IN FIDI
Wall Street Grill – a new kosher steakhouse – just opened at 128 Pearl. There’s outdoor seating, sushi and sashimi, but of course a “Butcher’s Corner” with specials like the bone-marrow crusted filet and a 20-ounce rib chop. Yipes! That’s a lot of meat!!
