ACTION ON HARRISON
The civil liberties group Rise and Resist livened up a quiet Harrison Street last night, protesting a $25K a head fundraiser (they said – I did not check) for Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie at Terroir. Jane Freeman and A. tipped me off, and while I missed the action, photographer Sue Brisk, who is documenting the Trump resistance movement, was willing to share her shots. Heastie’s fundraiser will benefit the “Speaker Heastie PAC,” according to the group.
BOTTOMS UP AT TACO BELL
CB1 approved a beer and wine license for the new Taco Bell Cantina on Fulton (at Cliff). There are only 60 of this new breed of Taco Bells around the country, and six in the city. The model, according to the franchise owner (who also operates a bunch of other Dunkins, note no Donut), all the food is cooked to order and the set up in the kitchen is totally different from other Taco Bells as a result. The other cantinas around the country offer beer, wine, sangria and Twisted Freezes, slushy drinks with the option to add vodka, rum or tequila. But this one will only have beer and wine. Blue Point brewery supplies some of the beer in the other locations with a special brew: Big City Bell Pilsner.
PHILLY PRETZEL IS BACK
J. reports that the Philly Pretzel guys on Chambers are back, and I saw them in there this morning getting the place ready for the day.
CBD AT KINGS!
Kings is also peddling CBD products, advertised out front and found on the shelves in front of the pharmacy in the back. Between the other four locations I can name offhand, it seems we are all just paces away from a store that sells CBD-laced merch. Convenient!
