The Boss played an impromptu set at the Tribeca Grill at a fundraiser for the Kristen Ann Carr Fund, named for the late daughter of rock journalist Dave Mash and Springsteen’s co-manager, Barbara Carr; Kristen Carr died of sarcoma in 1993 at age 21. MUSEUM OF CHINESE IN AMERICA SECURES FUNDING
The Museum of Chinese in America secured $2.3 million in funding from Council Speaker Corey Johnson, Councilwoman Margaret S. Chin and Borough President Gale A. Brewer to help the museum acquire its current premises at 215 Centre, which it now rents. MOCA is seeking to secure a permanent home in order to do what it does: tell the untold stories in the making of America through the lens of the Chinese immigrant experience. The total asking price for the building is $68 million, and the museum is seeking to purchase the building in a phased acquisition.

180 THE STORE GOES DIGITAL
180 The Store, owned by local Denise Williamson and located at 180 Duane, has just launched an online store at https://180thestore.com/. Like its brick and mortar shop, the online store is organized by brand and the concept is the same: the selection “changes on a rotating basis similar to an art gallery, offering the customer an ever-changing, shopping experience.”

SPEAKERS SERIES AT SOHO PHOTO
Leland Bobbé will speak on Thursday, April 18, as part of the SoHo Photo Gallery’s Contemporary Photographers Speakers Series. He will discuss four of his New York City projects: gritty black and white street photos of New York City in the 1970s focusing on Times Square and the Bowery; Half-Drag, studio beauty portraits of the city’s drag queens as half male and half female which went viral; Underground NYC, a collection of photos taken in the city’s subways, and his most recent project, Hardhats NYC, street portraits of NYC construction workers. His photos are in the permanent collection at the Museum of the City of New York and The Center of Photography at Woodstock. The event is from 6 to 7:30p at 15 White Street.
