A new wine store is coming to the old GameStop space on Greenwich next to Whole Foods. When I knocked, the man who came to the door was not interested in talking, and wouldn’t give any details on opening, but I could spy bottles already on the shelves.

SWEETGREEN FOR CHAMBERS
More Sweetgreen news: the Chambers Street store (in the old Pret a Manger space just east of West Broadway on the north side) is maybe three weeks from completion, according to the best guess by the guy delivering the coolers. He said they are opening another 20 stores (!) in the city; that’s really a word on the street, so take it as such, though we do know the company got a $200 million cash infusion and is also expanding its tech – more than 50 percent of orders come through the app.

FADO FESTIVAL FOR BROOKFIELD

Brookfield will host a festival of Portuguese traditional music (called Fado) May 1 to 4, starting with two free lunchtime concerts by Portuguese singer Sofia Ribeiro on May 1 and 2, both at noon. An award-winning performer, Ribeiro’s latest recording, Mar Sonoro, embraces fado, jazz and contemporary Brazilian music. Ribeiro has performed extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, and has released a total of eight studio albums. The Fado Festival – which goes through May 11 on the other side of the river in the Ironbound in Newark – will also include a free evening concert at the Winter Garden with a double bill featuring Camané and Ana Sofia Varela on May 3 at 7:30p.
