Seen & Heard: Tribeca Design District open house

TRIBECA DESIGN DISTRICT OPENS DOORS
In conjunction with NYCxDESIGN, the fifth annual Tribeca Design District night will take place on on Thursday, May 16. A variety of showrooms and galleries in the neighborhood will be open for extended hours, cocktail receptions, and exhibit openings. Hours and events vary from showroom to showroom. Showrooms include Colony at 324 Canal St; David Weeks Studio at 38 Walker St; Urban Archeology at 158 Franklin; Montauk Sofa at 42 Lispenard; and Stillfried Wien at 40 Walker. The event was founded in 2015 by Jean Lin of Colony and David Weeks Studio, Tribeca Design District brings together showrooms, galleries and retailers and tries to answer the question, “Where else should I go in the neighborhood?”

WILDFLOWER WALK AT THE BATTERY
Join The Battery Conservancy’s Chief Horticulturalist for a stroll through the beautiful perennial gardens designed by renowned Dutch designer Piet Oudolf on Saturday, May 18, from 11 to noon. Free, but register here.

COMEDIANS FIND FODDER IN L TRAIN
A bunch of comedians managed to find humor in the renovation of the L train, and noted that Fidi is going to force a bunch of W’burg hipsters to ditch their flannel. The chorus goes: “So cry, cry, Mr. Williamsburg guy, cut that man bun cause that look’s done when you move to FiDi.”


VOLLEYBALL MOVING UPTOWN
For those of you who enjoyed watching the volleyball tourney that has taken place the past few summers on Pier 25 (I know we all did), it’s moving a mile uptown to the Gansevoort Peninsula now that the pier is under construction.
