MOVING UPTOWN
The restaurant that applied for a liquor license at 161 Duane — and was soundly rejected for being too large and (potentially) too noisy and popular — is now applying for a license at 105 Hudson, the former Nobu space at Franklin. The owners behind Trybeca LLC have two swanky places in Chinatown on Doyers Street: Peachy’s (a night club) and Chinese Tuxedo (a restaurant). The notices up now say the new application is on the CB1 licensing committee agenda for June; however the applicant jumped the gun. They are likely on for July instead. (Big thanks to A. for the heads up.) ADDED BONUS POST: Tom Miller’s history of 105 Hudson — the Powell Building — here.
JUST BAKED! CLOSED FOR REAL
This photo should explain it.
GET LOW AT DOWNTOWN RESTAURANTS
The Downtown Alliance’s annual celebration of Fidi restaurants called Get Low (as in Manhattan geography) started this week and continues through the summer. Every Tuesday, dinner for two is discounted 20 percent at a different restaurant each week, including Blue Smoke, The Tuck Room and Crown Shy. You can follow the calendar here at the alliance’s blog.
TORLY KID ANNUAL TWEEN PARTY
Torly Kid will host its 10th Annual (and final) Hula Hoop Contest and Tween Party tomorrow, Saturday, June 1, from noon to 3. This year the festivities include mini makeovers including nail painting, temporary tattoos and glitter, swag bags for the first 15 guests, music, dancing and HUGE sales & savings on everything in-store. The store is closing mid-summer after a 15-year run. You can register for the event here.
JONAS BROS. TIMESTALK AT TPAC
I don’t usually list events that are not free (or close to free) but I figured this may get a few parents some major brownie points (or am I so out of touch and in fact the fans of the Jonas boys are now in their 20s??): the Jonas Brothers will be in a TimesTalk conversation with Ryan Tedder — the songwriter and founder of OneRepublic — at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center at BMCC on June 13. Tickets are $90 here.

Jupioca on Chambers Street closed.
No way this Tiger Tiger gets approved. A large contingency is coming out to protest this one. Not appropriate for this neighborhood.
