Seen & Heard: Spring cleaning for a neighborhood gem

SHINE ON WESTERN UNION
In other landmark improvement news, the brass at the Western Union building — 60 Hudson — was getting its twice-yearly polish on the Worth Street side and is looking snappy.

SHOPPING IN SOUTH ASIA
A range of South Asian inspired clothing, jewelry and skincare will be part of a “Bloom” pop-up shop this weekend, June 15 and 16, from 11 to 6 at One Art Space, 23 Warren. The wildflower themed shopping space will also feature artwork from emerging South Asian artists and a fusion Bollywood/R&B performance. The free tickets are here.

WALKING TO GREAT HEIGHTS
Sapar Contemporary is showing “Éric Bourret Walks Alone,” the work of an “artist-walker” who climbs summits to produce photographs that he refers to as “experiences of walking, experiences of the visible.” His walks document diverse and dramatic topographies, like the mountains of his native France, the Himalayas, the deserts of South Africa and the Americas, the icebergs of Greenland and the volcanoes of Europe. Through August 3 at 9 N. Moore.

NOSY NEIGHBOR TEASER
A. asked what’s happening with the North End Grill space, and I have this reply for now: “We are excited to announce a new operator and concept for the North End Grill space soon.”

LOS TACOS COMING SOON…
Los Tacos No. 1 says they hope to open their shop at 136 Church (Warren) by the end of the summer. The street taco stand in Chelsea Market (with a newer locations in Times Square and Grand Central) is holding strong on the Eater 38 – the blog’s list of essential NYC eating, or as they put it: “an elite collection of restaurants from across the city that define New York City’s dining scene right now — and that will satisfy the restaurant needs for locals and visitors alike.”
