PAUL RUDD SLIMES HIMSELF IN TRIBECA
The Ant Man actor tweets this cute video to announce that he will be part of the Ghostbusters reboot in the fall, directed by Jason Reitman. Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd will also return for this version, due out July 2020.
ROBERT RIPPS SHOWS AT WESTERN UNION
Local artist Robert Ripps will have an installation of his photographs at the Western Union building, 60 Hudson, starting today and running through July 31. The show will highlight his ongoing Negativityness project with three 20″ x 30″ images printed on aluminum substrate — an organic tableau of branches, vines and other natural materials. “I like to explore the interaction and intersection of nature and the man-made world, both visually, as well as technically,” says Ripps. “This project started as my response to the political climate in our country right now — everything seems to be about negativity, about division, about what is truth (and what is inarguably false, yet touted as truth). My work looks at how the surface of things can be 180 degrees opposite from what is underneath.”
87 ON WALKER COMING SOON
Local residents Brian Kennedy and Jolene Howard are putting the finishing touches on 87 on Walker, their new restaurant between Cortlandt Alley and Lafayette. More TK when they are ready to open, but in the meantime, this time lapse, above, is fun to watch.
AT THE RISK OF MAKING MYSELF THE NEWS…
The folks at Architectural Digest and Conde Nast asked me to participate in a new digital series that airs on the magazine’s YouTube channel called “Asking Price.” It was a blast to tape: the game was to ask three (real estate) amateurs to guess the value of an apartment as the producers gradually reveal more and more details. Since it’s a recent sale, the actual answer comes at the end. This one’s Chelsea; stay tuned for one closer to home.
