In the News: Michelle Obama has lunch at Locanda Verde

The Trib has photos of the crowd — and one good shot of Michelle Obama herself wearing her signature closed-lipped smile — at the Greenwich Hotel, as Obama exited the restaurant having had lunch — according to the British rag The Daily Mail — with Sarah Jessica Parker, model Lily Aldridge, Georgia May Jagger and actress Olivia Munn.

UP FOR GRABS AT 443 GREENWICH
There’s an apartment for sale in 443 Greenwich, which is enough to make the Post and several other papers since it’s also the home of Meg Ryan, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

ARTISTS & FLEAS MOVING SOUTH TO BROOME
Patch reports that Artists & Fleas will move its market to 490 Broadway, at Broome Street, from its current location at 568 Broadway, starting July 31. There’s a grand opening on August 8. “Streetwear brand Anglero, jewelry collective A Handful Of, tattoo and piercing shop Live by the Sword, and another jewelry shop Atomic Gold will relocate to the market’s new digs as well. New merchants will hold weekly pop-ups, according to the market.”

PROGRESS ON WTC ARTS CENTER
New York YIMBY reports that the underground work on the Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center — being built across the street from 200 Greenwich and just north of the memorials — is complete. The building is scheduled to be finished in 2021.

REVIEWING PUBLIC OPEN SPACES
Curbed has an overview of the city’s public open spaces — or POPS — given as deals to developers and now in many cases languishing. One of them is 7 Hanover Square, which CB1 is wrestling with now.

  2. The article on the performing arts center mentioned the Vehicle Security Center where tour buses were supposed to park. Has anyone ever seen a tour bus enter or leave that structure? I see tour buses all the time parked in parts of Tribeca and around lower Manhattan. Do they have to pay to park in the VSC? But why would they do that when they can use free street parking which should be for locals.

  3. The uptown one train station at Franklin is now re opened after the renovation.
