Local resident Lisa Stefanelli-LeRoy recently handed over the reins of her former Tribeca Barre space to Caroline Rouine, a local yoga instructor both at Tribeca Barre and YogaWorks who has brought her own hybrid brand of TRX, sculpt, Pilates and yoga, a combo she developed as she trained her own body both pre- and post-baby.
“I always loved yoga but I needed a bit more,” says Rouine, whose two children go to Spruce Street School. (She came here as a 20-year-old from Ireland; her husband, Sam O’Connor, co-owns the Trading Post on John Street.) She incorporated kinetic stretching and strength training to her yoga routine, refined with anatomy expertise she gained as a certified instructor. She is now offering sculpt and barre classes five days a week, and just added a lunchtime express pilates and barre, TRX and core works, and starting on the 22nd, a Caribbean-based dance fitness class. A 10-class package is $200 — which has to be one of the best deals in the neighborhood.
There’s also stuff for kids: Tween yoga begins Nov. 5 and will run Tuesdays at 4p. The studio also hosts kids birthday parties, and coming up on the schedule for January will be a kids movement class. Stay tuned.
