SHOP LOCAL FOR DUANE PARK
The shops along Duane Park will give 10 percent of their proceeds to the Friends of Duane Park this Saturday, Nov. 9, from 1 to 4. So head over the Scanlan Theodore, Roller Rabbit, Tribeca Wine Merchants, 180 The Store, Klein Epstein Parker, J. Crew and The Armoury and treat yourself (and the park).
SWIM AND BE FREE
The River Project will host its annual Release of the Fishes on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 4 to 7, at Pier 40. All the critters that have spent the past season in the organization’s Wetlab will be returned to the Hudson to live their best life. Kids will be able to check out live crabs, seahorses, plankton, oyster reefs and get to touch the invertebrates. For more information: https://www.riverprojectnyc.org/events
MONGOLIAN PAINTINGS NEVER SEEN OUTSIDE ASIA
Sapar Contemporary is showing “Mongol Zurag: The Art of Everyday” featuring two of the most prominent representatives of this style, D. Uurintuya and Ch. Baasanjav, through Nov. 13. Curated by Uranchimeg Tsultemin, a professor of Asian art at Herron School of Art and Design, Indiana University, the show displays work suppressed prior to 1990, when Mongolia opened its doors to the world after seven decades of socialist regime. The gallery is at 9 N. Moore.
MIRANDA LAMBERT LIP-SYNCING IN THE ‘HOOD
This is super tangential to the neighborhood but somehow it cracked me up so sharing here. That’s Miranda Lambert lip-syncing with her stylists and their weapon of choice before a performance at the iHeartRadio Theater on Walker and West Broadway. Her new husband – an NYPD officer – jumps in for the cameo.
Laughing Man has jumped in, too, for Saturday afternnoon’s Shop for Duane Park. Thank you in advance to our many “friends” of Duane Park!
