KOREAN DESSERT TASTING AT JUNGSIK
Jungsik, the Michelin-starred Korean restaurant on Harrison, will host a free two-day Korean pastry pop-up exhibition and tasting to spotlight five pastry chefs from Seoul on Nov. 20 from 11a to 4p and Nov. 21 from 1 to 4p. Included are the chef Park Kyung-mi, the apprentice and master of Joseon Dynasty royal cuisine; Biwon, a rice cake shop that opened in 1949; Gangjeong House, which makes candied rice puffs; and the restaurants Kimssibooin and Haap. There will also be modern Korean crafts by Seoul artists. No reservations needed. The restaurant has its own renowned pastry chef, Eunji Lee, who explains how to make her truffle cone in the Eater vid below.
TUTTO IL GIORNO IS SERVING SATURDAY LUNCH
Our outpost of the Hamptons Italian staple Tutto Il Giorno is serving lunch again on Saturdays from noon to 4. The restaurant, which opened in 2014 here, only serves lunch on the weekends.
THE BROOKFIELD SKATING RINK IS OPEN
Weather dependent, hours are different every day so check the schedule here. Rates are $15 for a 90-minute session, and rentals are $5. Private lessons are open all day; group lessons are scheduled every Saturday and Sunday from 9 till 10:15.
…AND THE PIER 17 RINK OPENS NEXT WEEK
The rink on top of Pier 17 opens Nov. 22.
THE ART OF THE CAN AT BROOKFIELD
Arts Brookfield will host its annual competition for sculpture made out of cans (called Canstruction New York) through Nov. 21. There are 31 sculptures constructed entirely from unopened cans of food, which are donated to City Harvest at the end of the exhibition – the largest donation to the organization in a single event. The sculptures were judged on Best Meal, Best Use of Labels, Most Cans, Structural Ingenuity, Best Original Design and People’s Choice.
