CHRISTMAS COMES TO WASHINGTON MARKET PARK
Washington Market Park will hold its annual Christmas celebration in the park this Saturday, Dec. 7, from 11a to noon. Santa will be there, along with holiday refreshments and caroling. Bring an unwrapped toy to donate. (I have to admit to a personal stake here: this is the first year in what has to be close to a decade that my husband won’t be delivering Santa in Lisa Davis’ Dutch cargo bike dressed in a green velour elf suit, and at least one of my kids won’t be running alongside wearing little stuffed reindeer antlers. Sniff.)
HOLIDAY LIGHTS AT SOUTH COVE
On Thursday, Dec. 5, Battery Park City will kick off the season with a holiday lighting ceremony at 6p, plus caroling, warm beverages and sweet treats. You can donate a new, unwrapped gift for Stockings With Care in advance at 75 Battery Place or at the event.
THIS WEEK’S SNOWY VIEWS
I didn’t get my camera out in time, but had to share these images from folks with refined viewfinders: dedicated jogger @tribecamorningrunner, who snaps the two bridges EVERY DAY, and local street artist Robert Janz (@janzwork) whose slush drawings were a bit less temporal than those in his usual medium.
Don’t last long but fun to snow draw. Worth braving the chill wind.
Love the traces …I follow your tracks .
much more fun than drawing on expensive papers. Thanx for Ur enthusiasm!
