Battery Park City is taking its own census — of its birds. Within its 36 acres of parks and public spaces, there are more than 100 species of birds. The survey will only kill 10 minutes, but hey, it’s something. And it’s a nice break from reading virus coverage in the Times. The information will help the BPCA create better habitats for native insects and migratory birds. (I know it’s the wrong park, but look how this robin was ready for his closeup??)
Definitely a relaxing activity these days. I’ve recently seen song sparrows, white-throated sparrows, brown creepers and hermit thrush. Soon the warblers will be coming through. Keep your eyes open for black and white warblers, northern parulas, and common yellowthroats (among others). Thanks for the reminder Pam!
Is there a pair of binoculars which can take photographs?
