The Hideaway on Duane Park will open starting this afternoon for pickup of a smaller menu of its house favorites, as well as beer, wine and cocktails to go, all offered through its front window (usually the best seat in the house). The Seaport location is also open.

The restaurant closed on March 15 — they were figuring out how to cut hours when the decision came through — but decided the time was right to start dusting the place off.

“We genuinely miss being in our bar and with our customers,” said Gael Dunbrack, the general manager. “We also feel like The Hideaway has been such a neighborhood constant that we owed it to offer up a little familiar comfort. I felt out my staff and once I heard how badly my kitchen staff wanted to return to work, we got the ball rolling.”

They have rehired their cooks, dishwasher and porter and the bartenders will return when service demands it — “I guess? I hope?” Gael added. Sangria will be added to the cocktail list as soon as the weather warms up and they also hope to add hard seltzer and canned rose. And there’s more:

“We are feeling out interest/demand to do our famous Maryland Blue Crabs to go. It’s a huge summer staple and we may be the easiest way to get them!”
