K. and J. sent these inspiring images of the Junteenth celebration on Friday that migrated from its start at City Hall through the streets of the neighborhood. I usually like to complain that every citywide event does not *have* to happen downtown — other boroughs or neighborhoods could share the burden — but these days it has been so exciting to be a part of the action. (After dark that night, DCAS lit up 1 Centre to make the occasion too.)
The state caught up to the rest of the nation when Cuomo issued an executive order saying the day will be a holiday for state employees, and Di Blasio just announced that city schools will be close for the holiday as well.
