Seen & Heard: 1803 will open with live music

LIVE MUSIC ON THE PORCH
1803, the NOLA-inspired restaurant on the corner of Reade and Church, will have a live band at its opening on Monday and will continue to host live music along with its outdoor dining. This is a new twist on our streetside dining lives, so curious to see how it works out. The first band will be Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra — a jazz band that transcribes original orchestrations from the ’20s and ’30s and dresses in period costume.

NAIL SALONS OPEN MONDAY
ICYMI nail salons are permitted to open on Monday, and I know for sure that Min Song will be opening Plaza M Tribeca on N. Moore. No doubt there will be others joining so call your fave for an appointment. The rules below are what Min posted on her site.

MANHATTAN YOUTH TAKING VACATION
Manhattan Youth will be taking a pause for the next three weeks, with all staff on vacation from July 1 to July 17th. The staff will be back with plans for August and beyond. From Bob Townley: “Manhattan Youth has been keeping our staff employed and busy since mid-March. It’s time to take a break and enjoy our blessings.”

CB1 HAS NEW LEADERSHIP
Community Board 1 elected new executive officers at its June Zoom meeting, replacing some longtime leadership. The chair is now Battery Park City resident Tammy Meltzer; Tribecan Alice Blank is vice chair; Colin Mahoney is secretary; Brittany Wade is assistant secretary; Mariama James is treasurer.

  1. 1803 is packed in front tonight with crowds of non-mask wearers not social distancing.
