Seen & Heard: Voting is art, art is voting

VOTING IS ART
Migrated Tribecan Christine Sculli has an installation projecting on several buildings out east, and it is coming tonight to St. Ann’s Warehouse in Dumbo starting at 5p. It’s a (non-partisan) compilation of visual art and videos by artists from across the country encouraging folks to vote, and includes Christine’s clever hand gestures. (There are a few others hand gestures that would also work for this season.) The piece was originally intended to get out the vote for the congressional race in eastern Suffolk County. And it will preach to the converted here: 1.1 million New Yorkers have already voted, out of 5 million registered voters.

PUMPKINS ARE POLITICS
Turns out some of our neighbors can get very clever with knives. It’s worth a stroll past the Washington Market Park entrance to see this year’s entrants in the annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. There were 56 gourds, and one is cuter than the next. Of course one star fly in particular made an encore appearance.

PILGRIMS AT LADDER 8
N. caught this great shot of a ghostbusting family — with their mini Stay Puft marshmallow man — making a Halloween visit to Mecca.

MORE LINES, THIS TIME FOR FISH
Blue Moon Fish had its last day at the Greenmarket on Saturday — after 32 years — and the line went around the corner down Chambers to the entrance to BMCC. There were tears and protests. All the best to Alex in his retirement, as well as our thanks, from all of us here in Tribeca.
