EGG by Susan Lazar has closed its Tribeca store permanently at the end of September, though as of spring 2019 it is now simply EGG New York. There are still eight stores total between here and Birmingham, Miss., including DUMBO and Williamsburg.
The store here, at 104 Franklin (next to Jason Scott), opened in 2014 and also served as the company’s headquarters. Lazar, who went to FIT and first had a women’s line, hatched the company in 2003.
At the time she opened here, Tribeca had nine other kids clothing stores: Koh’s Kids, Babesta, Bitz Kids, Jacadi, Livly, My Little Sunshine, Naturino, Polarn O. Pyret, Rosie Pope and Torly Kid. I think we are still doing pretty well on that front, fingers crossed, despite the loss of Bitz Kids, Rosie Pope and Torly Kid, with the addition of Ever After.
What a loss! I first stumbled upon this store when I was expecting my first son – I had just found out about the gender, and the sales associate warmly helped me find a star-filled blue hat so I could use it to reveal the gender to my husband that evening. We would later move to Franklin Street a few months later, and my son would wear that same hat by EGG on his way home from the hospital after birth.
I still miss Bu and The Duck, my all time favorite !
Did Jason Scott just close next door?
They moved to 68 White, but from what I can tell the new space (on the second floor) is not open to the public. I tried to reach them for the shopping guide…
