HONORING MANNY
Downtown Soccer League will honor Manny D’Almeida (pictures taken pre-pandemic, NB), who has refed and coached kids in the league for 21 years, on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 12:30. He let the league know that he is planning to move to Arizona after the season ends.
The plan is to present him with an award, a memory book filled with notes from players, and a collective cheer from those present on the field. (I’ll add that while the DSL is being very careful about who is allowed on the field, you can also cheer from outside the West Street fence to show your appreciation.)
180 WILL POP UP IN EAST HAMPTON
180 the Store will host a pop-up next weekend in the Springs, East Hampton, at The Fireplace Project across from the Jackson Pollack House. The dates are Nov. 20-23, from 10:30a to 5p. Of course Denise Williamson is also open at her usual Tribeca digs at 180 Duane.
HEAD FAKE FOR POTENTIAL LOOTERS
In case you were wondering about Korin –the Japanese knife and tableware store that’s been a fixture on Warren for nearly 40 years — they are open. They had a “for rent” note on the door for most of the quarantine, but it was just to throw looters off the scent. Hours are 10a to 6p, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.
DANCING IN THE STREETS
K. caught this video on Saturday and sent it along. Fab.
According to an e-mail sent by DSL, this was supposed to be a surprise for Manny.
They asked me to run something.
