The Tribeca Film Festival will be one of the first festivals in the country to go live and in person after a year of movie deprivation, and The Battery and Brookfield will be two of the screening venues. Other locations include the roof of Hudson River Park’s Pier 57 (at 17th Street), Hudson Yards, Empire Outlets (Staten Island) and The MetroTech Commons (Brooklyn).
The festival will run from June 9 to June 20 and will also include “community screenings” in all the boroughs using 40-foot LED mobile HD screens. This is its 20th anniversary — since it was founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in 2001 to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of lower Manhattan following the attacks on the World Trade Center. This year’s festival will also include a Juneteenth celebration as part of the closing night.
Looking forward to see how this plays out. And for the Festival itself.
