Seen & Heard: Moderna at Kings

KINGS NOW MAKING VACCINE APPOINTMENTS
J. sent the heads up that Kings has the Moderna vaccine though their website says supply is limited: “We are booking appointments for First Dose Vaccinations of the Moderna Covid19 Vaccine. Please call us at 212-791-3100. Ages 18 and up.”

MUSEUM IN A CLOSET
Mmuseumm, the quirky little “modern history museum” in a shed on Courtlandt Alley — is now open and booking private showings for five people at a time, Friday through Sunday from 11a to 6p.

NEW MAP SHOWS BUILDING VIOLATIONS
The New York City Department of Buildings now publishes a real-time interactive map showing the location of multiple dwellings in the city that are currently facing restrictions on what construction permits they can obtain, due to high proportions of hazardous violations issued by DOB and the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD). Properties that are highlighted on the map will be prevented from obtaining DOB work permits until the violations associated with those properties are resolved and the conditions are corrected, except in situations where permits are necessary to correct a violation or other select circumstances. Viewers can see both the number of DOB and HPD violations for a given property on the map, as well as the violations per unit. The map will be updated daily, as buildings are added or taken off the list.

EMPTY RESTAURANTS READY FOR THEIR NEXT ACT
The Downtown Alliance has produced a spreadsheet that shows ‘second generation’ storefront spaces on the market right now — in other words, spaces for rent that were built out for a restaurant but have closed. It’s depressing, but it also could be a great opportunity for an entrepreneur. The idea is a new restaurant can save time and upfront costs on stuff like venting and kitchens.

  1. The new DOB resource is really helpful. Thanks for the heads up. The empty restaurant space spreadsheet is a very useful resource that I hope proves useful as it definitely offers opportunity ( despite the losses).
