In the News: Two Bridges development can move forward

MASSIVE TOWERS FOR TWO BRIDGES
Crain’s reports that the massive towers planned for Two Bridges can move forward, after the Appellate Division reversed a decision by the state Supreme Court. The suit was filed by Councilwoman Margaret Chin and BP Gale Brewer. The four towers would — or will — run along the waterfront between Cherry, South Street, Pike Slip and Clinton.

ANALYZING UWS STOREFRONT VACANCIES
While this has nothing to do with Tribeca in particular, this WSJ story parses out why certain blocks on the UWS have seen a drop in storefront vacancy rates — and since this seems to be a regular topic here, it’s worth reading. “While it’s easy to blame high vacancy rates on landlords, the pandemic, or Amazon, every shopkeeper I met on both avenues agreed on one point: It’s ultimately the residents who decide the health of their shopping strip. Many Upper West Side denizens go out of their way to shop local, and that’s the primary reason the street is doing relatively well, says Steve Mohr, owner of Amsterdam Avenue’s More & More Antiques: ‘They understand, you reap what you sow.'”
