I’m not sure why I didn’t notice sooner since I’ve passed by a hundred times, but Ethan Rose, the lovely salon at 5 Harrison on the corner of Staple Street has closed. They moved out three or four months ago according to Gene Schafer, who has ARC Athletics next door, after reopening post-lockdown late last June.

Crystal Torres, who lived at the time (and maybe does still??) in Battery Park City opened the salon in 2016 after working as a hairstylist at two Tribeca salons, Younghee and Lotus. The salon was named after her two children.

At the time, Torres had hoped to develop her own product line and expand to other neighborhoods; hopefully she will get in touch and let us know where she has landed after this miserable year.
