Japanese bar Icca opening soon?
B. got a good shot of the interiors this week at Icca, the adorable Japanese restaurant on Warren between Church and Broadway that has been brewing since April 2018. The owners told me they do not have an exact opening date yet.
The original plan three years ago, when they came before the community board, was to have 25 seats — 15 at a bar and 10 at a sushi counter — but not sure of the layout now. The menu then was promised to be a omakase sushi bar and a six-course kaiseki menu — which is a multi-course formal Japanese dinner.

Speaking of 3 years in the works, What’s up with the sushi spot on Barclay near church? That also looks close?
You mean the wine bar? When I covered it on March 3, it was poised to open. Needless to say that was tough first year…
It’s the door right next (west) to it, not sure if they’re affiliated with the wine people/social club. The green wood was taken down and the door has a plastic handle on it for a few weeks now.
