PREPPING FOR OCCUPY WALL STREET
Since today is the 10th anniversary of Occupy Wall Street, which took over Zuccotti Park in 2011 (where did that decade go?) the bull has been prepped. Thanks to N. for the shot of him in his protective gear.
RICH IN CITI BIKE STATIONS
While I have never been able to get a bead on how DOT plans for Citi Bike stations — even after lots of back and forth on the Duane Street station — the Downtown Alliance did a quick count and there are now 35 stations south of Chambers! There’s a new one at Church and Vesey.
FREE MOVIES AT FOSUN PLAZA
The long awaited Alamo Drafthouse (have those plans been discussed for five years now??) is bringing free outdoor movies to Fosun Plaza (28 Liberty) on Sept. 23, 30 and Oct. 7 at 7p. (Note that it’s a Saturday, Saturday and Sunday.) It will be “Escape from New York” on September 23, followed by “You’ve Got Mail” on September 30 and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” on October 7. Costumes are encouraged for that last one.
OCULUS GREENMARKET IS BACK
The Greenmarket at Oculus Plaza has started up again on Tuesdays, from 8a to 5p. Farmers include Samascott Orchard Orchard fruit, strawberries from Columbia County, New York; Francesa’s Bakery Breads and baked goods from Middlesex County, New Jersey; Meredith’s Bakery Baked goods from Ulster County, New York; Riverine Ranch Water Buffalo meat and cheeses from Warren County, New Jersey; 1857 Spirits Handcrafted potato vodka from Schoharie County, New York.
On the Citi Bike app, under your profile, you can actually see how many different stations you have visited (and view them on a map), and what percentage of the total that is. Which is great, but also kind of scary that they have this much information on you saved…
