What’s doing for Halloween?

Washington Market Park is scaling back its Halloween events this year again out of virus precautions. But there’s still some fun to be had. And as with last year, some storefronts will be handing out candy I am sure on Halloween day, which this year is on Sunday.

SUNDAY, OCT. 24
Church Street School for Music and Art will hold its annual Spooktacular from 11a to 2p. Admission is $15. There will be a Halloween fashion show, live music, a bagel brunch and lots more. Get tickets here.

OCT. 26 – OCT. 31
Brookfield Place will host an interactive installation by Gabe BC called Memento Mori, larger than life skeletons transforming the Wintergarden.

SATURDAY, OCT. 30
WMP 7th Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest
This year’s event will be judged inhouse with no awards ceremony, but there will be trophies! Drop off your carved pumpkin at the park between noon and 2p. The pumpkins will be displayed in the patch along the Greenwich Street fence just south of the entrance for the afternoon. Pumpkins will be judged in five categories: cutest, funniest, most realistic, most creative and scariest. Winners will be announced via the park’s Instagram at around 2:30p. (As always, Tribecan Liz Reitman and her team at Reitdesign get the credit for the awesome posters.)

SUNDAY, OCT. 31
WMP Annual Parade (no party part this year)
Starts at 1p at Citi Bank plaza at Greenwich and Beach
The Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Marching Corps will as always lead the parade and will perform at the park afterwards for a short stint. And I will note, those guys are the #1 best!

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, OCT. 30 & 31
Halloween at the Seaport
Saturday only 11a to 6p: Hester Street Fair with vintage, gifts, food, music—and a costume contest for the grownups.
Saturday & Sunday noon to 5p: Trick or Treating at Fulton Street businesses plus a live DJ on the stage
Saturday & Sunday noon to 4p: Pumpkin Painting with the South Street Seaport Museum at Pier 16

  2. I still can’t believe it is almost Halloween.

  3. It’s unfortunate we just received news of sex offenders living at 52 William.
With so many kid friendly activities about to take place please be extra diligent.
