JUMP START FOR NEW STOREFRONTS
Keeping in mind that this is for businesses south of Murray: The Downtown Alliance has created Jump Start, a resource for business owners that will provide $10,000 worth of consulting services on IT issues, covid preparedness, social media strategy and demographic analysis. The grants will go to 20 small businesses that have recently signed a lease downtown for storefront commercial space. The location must not be open yet, must be an independent business with no more than five locations and cannot be a national chain or franchise. Apply here.
The alliance has also developed a database of 48 spaces that are move-in ready. See the list here.
STRINGS-ON-HUDSON IN BPC
Clarinet and mandolin virtuoso Andy Statman joins forces with Jay Gandhi, Ehren Hanson, and David Ellenbogen of Brooklyn Raga Massive for a free concert at Belvedere Plaza on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 5:30p. More info here.
MATTRESS FIRM FIRMING UP
The chain has taken over the old emergent care space at 200 Chambers, between Greenwich and West streets. They said they were to open in October and it looks like they are on track…
MOSTLY MODERN POPS AT THE OCULUS
The Oculus will host performances every Tuesday from the Mostly Modern Pops orchestra through Nov. 23. The time is different each day so check the schedule here. Noon events will take place on the Oculus floor and afternoon events will take place on the South Concourse Balcony.
There are restaurants listed on the available storefronts spreadsheet that are still open – does this mean they are planning to close? I noticed Bobby Vans, The Sandwich House and George’s Diner.
