Seen & Heard: Early voting is open

EARLY VOTING IS OPEN
ICYMI, the early voting polls are open. Find your location here. On the ballot: five ballot proposals — on state redistricting, access to polling site, clean air and water and a claim limit for civil court. (I voted yes on all and this is a good explainer from The City.) Also on the ballot: mayor, borough president, comptroller, public advocate, judges and the candidates for City Council District 1: Chris Marte, Maud Maron and Jacqueline Toboroff (I asked each of them to do a second questionnaire, but none of them replied). Early voting ends Sunday; check the hours here (they are different every day). Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2.

BEST USE OF CITIZEN APP EVER
I got a message yesterday from a friend of a friend whose Tribeca friend had lost her dog — he jumped out of their car somewhere between Broadway and Greenwich as they headed west from the Brooklyn Bridge. Duke was found by a couple on Delancey and Broome and reunited with his owners after the humans messaged on the Citizen app.

BEST URBAN LANDSCAPE GOES TO PIER 26
The Municipal Arts Society awarded Pier 26 in Hudson River Park one of its MASterworks Awards, in this case for Best Urban Landscape that “contributes to livability and resilience.” Established in 2001 and selected by an esteemed jury, the awards pay tribute each year to projects that make a significant contribution to New York City’s built environment.

WATER’S SOUL IS DEDICATED IN JERSEY CITY
It’s a on the other side of the river but so huge it has now become part of the Tribeca landscape: Water’s Soul was officially dedicated this past week. The monumental sculpture was installed at Newport by artist Jaume Plensa.
