Seen & Heard: Affordable housing for 5 WTC

AFFORDABLE HOUSING DISCUSSION FOR 5 WTC TONIGHT
CB1 and a group of downtown elected officials will host an Affordability Forum to discuss plans for 5 World Trade Center on Thursday, Dec. 9, 6:30p on Zoom. The current proposal from Silverstein Properties is 330 affordable units (I do not know at what scale) out of 1325. Register here.

COAT DRIVE AT AZTECH MOUNTAIN
The new ski wear shop on Hudson at Duane Park, Aztech Moutain, owned by Tribecans David Roth and Anthony Rutgers, will host a coat drive for New York Cares along with a visit from Santa on Tuesday, Dec. 14, and Thursday, Dec. 16, from 2 to 5p. The store is at 42 Hudson.

SNOWMEN AT R & CO
Tribecan Zesty Meyer’s gallery R & Company has a once-in-a-lifetime display of snowmen figurines by pioneering glass artist Richard Marquis. Created yearly for his wife for more than 20 years, each figurine is unique and now for sale. There are 60 of them, and they will be rotating through the gallery all season. 64 White Street

LEARNING ABOUT THE HUDSON RIVER
The Hudson River Park Trust has installed some cool signage that explains about the creatures who live in the river and some of the history of the Westside waterfront (for those you have to walk up to the Village).

  1. Across the street from 5 WTC sits 125 Greenwich the 88 story residential building that remains vacant with no sign of a completion date that I know of. Are additional new tall buildings with promises of affordable housing really the only answer? Perhaps those of us that live here would prefer more sunlight around than the shadows cast by these towers.

  2. I spotted the cool signage along the Hudson River
yesterday. Love the colors and design.
