PI BAKERIE NOW IN FIDI
The owners of the Financier bakery at 35 Cedar (unfortunately a casualty of the pandemic) have reopened in the same spot with Pi Bakerie, a Greek bakery that already has a few fans on CB1. (They asked for a beer and wine license last week.) HPH Group, run by Peter Poulakakos and Paul Lamas, operates Harry’s Italian, the new Anassa Taverna as well as Ulysses on Stone Street and a dozen or so other restaurants. For this one, they partnered with the owners of Pi Bakerie, which has its original store in Soho on Broome. “I happen to be Greek and I love Greek food and I love their concept so I thought it would be something fun to do downtown,” Lamas said. There are 54 seats, no bar. Google says the hours are 7a to 8p, but they are so new the website is not updated yet.
NSA HQ IN TRIBECA
J. sent this along and it is a quick recap of the original and amazing 2016 story from The Intercept about the AT&T Long Lines Building at Church and Thomas. See more here ICYMI back then.
BEHIND THE ART IN BPC
The Battery Park City Authority has produced a couple videos with explanations of two of their many art installations: the Pylons by Martin Puryear, which are permanent, and The House Will Not Pass For Any Color Other Than Its Own by Mildred Howard, which is leaving soon.
