Seen & Heard: The spa at Governors Island is open

SHVITIZING ON GOVERNORS ISLAND
The QC spa at Governors Island just opened and I will get in there ASAP. (I tried to get in last week and they were still putting on the finishing touches.) It’s not a bad deal: $88 to use the facilities for four hours (saunas, steam rooms, “relaxation rooms”) and $200 with a massage included. What I love is that the company’s locations include Chamonix, Val di Fassa, San Pellegrino and… Governors Island. Will report back very soon.

JAY Z AND THE “WAR ON DRUGS”
This is one of the most brilliant op-docs — when I was teaching, I used it as an example of how opinion pieces must have solid reporting behind them — and it came to mind now that the Times reports that the first cannabis retail licenses in New York state will go to those with marijuana convictions first. So the Jay Z connection was all I needed to run here.

JAZZ AT THE POSTER MUSEUM
Tribecan and Grammy-award winning drummer Robby Ameen is starting up his Thursday Jazz Sessions at Phillip Williams Posters beginning next week, March 17. They run from 7 to 9p at 52 Warren, $20 comes with a glass of wine ($10 for students). For reservations call (212)513-0313 or email robbyameen@gmail.com.

MANHATTAN YOUTH FOR UKRAINE
Manhattan Youth and Tribeca Dental Studio on Warren will be collecting supplies for Ukrainian refugees that will be sent to Poland (MY founder Bob Townley is Polish and his family is also donating to Polish Humanitarian Action) over the next couple weeks. Drop non-perishables (canned food, water, kids toys, first aid kids, antibacterial sprays, batteries and warm clothes) at 120 Warren or 54 Warren.

There will also be a mural painting activity at the Downtown Community Center in honor of families in Ukraine on Saturday, March 12, from 10:30 to noon.
