In the News: Four decades of the Nieporents in Tribeca

FOUR DECADES OF NIEPORENTS IN TRIBECA
CBS News features Drew Nieporent and flashes back to the neighborhood when he first opened Montrachet (now Bâtard) on West Broadway and not long after, Tribeca Grill and Nobu.

THE EASTER BRUNCH CHANGEUP
Bubby’s inspires The Times’ Sam Sifton to recommend friend chicken and pancakes for Easter brunch.

LUNCH WITH ROCCO DiSPIRITO
The Times features Tribecan Rocco DiSpirito — who also hosts the Downtown Alliance’s Dine Around Downtown programs — in its Sunday feature on local New Yorkers. My favorite part: when DiSpirito describes how he eats through the menu at Balthazar during his weekly three-hour lunches there: “They have an amazing basket of pastries, so I have some pastries first with some coffee, and then in an hour or so, I order the seafood tower. Always. Having a seafood tower at Balthazar is one of my favorite things to do in the whole world. It was what I dreamed of more than anything else during the dog days of the pandemic. An hour or so after the seafood tower, I might have steak frites or maybe duck or trout. Something very typically French. This is a magical place for classic French food and brasserie ambience that you don’t find much anymore.”

ANTHROPOLOGIE STORE FLOODED
The Anthropologie store on Broadway and Dey was flooded over the weekend when the fire sprinklers went off during open hours.

  1. Let’s not forget TriBakery with Drew sitting outside at one of the tables. I still miss it…

  2. In the Easter Brunch story, I think it should be fried chicken not friend. Can’t rely on spell check.

  3. Anthropologie has re-opened, with 40% off sale prices this weekend.
