The Peruvian baby clothing line Babycottons has taken the former A Uno Tribeca space on the southeast corner of Duane and West Broadway — one of the most, if not the most, lovely retail spaces in the neighborhood. (More on its neighbor to the south, Felix, soon.)
They opened Friday (thanks to S. for the heads up) and already seem fully stocked with their line of cotton basics for baby, though their designs range up to age 10.
The company was founded by Maria Paz de la Piedra in Peru in 1999 to make the most of the country’s crop of Pima cotton, which is softer than other varieties thanks to its long, waxy fibers. Babycottons was acquired in 2011 by a Paraguayan group and taken international; it now has stores all over the world and five in the US, including one on Madison and 89th.
The Tribeca location puts them in a bit of a baby district, with Livly and Jacadi just around the corner on Reade, and of course Koh’s Kids on Reade and Greenwich. To round out the baby shopping scene, My Little Sunshine is a bit farther up, on Hudson at Hubert; Babesta is on Warren and West Broadway; Everafter on Greenwich and Harrison; The Little on Greenwich and Beach.

Right! Will add.
I’m just glad this great space didn’t stay empty long. It’s hard seeing empty spaces used as ads.
Will stop in soon!!
So glad to see it leased up. Looks like a nice store. Yes baby central down here. And that is NYC, i just walked from LES back home and every block is different. Im front here and am still amazed at the diversity we have. Ok nuff said :)
