Seen & Heard: Woolworth spire penthouse is relisted

TOP OF THE WOOLWORTH BUILDING IS LISTED AGAIN
The tippy-top penthouse at the Woolworth Building, dubbed the Pinnacle, has been relisted for $59 million, this time with the potential of adding the 49th floor as well. That would make a 12,000 square foot apartment. The white box, originally designed by Tribecan Thierry Despont, was listed in 2017 when it was created for $110 million, then again in 2021 for $79 million. The plan for the recent addition of the 49th floor was designed by David Hotson, who also did the Skyhouse penthouse on Nassau.

COAST GUARD DAY ON THE LILAC
The Lilac, the lightship parked on Pier 25, will celebrate Coast Guard Day all weekend, with tours from 2 to 6p on Saturday and Sunday with special themed activities. There will be a coloring station for kids with sheets from the official Coast Guard Coloring Book and they will be screening videos of LILAC’s veterans sharing stories of their service on board.

POLICE MEMORIAL HAS REOPENED
The New York City Police Memorial, which honors officers who died in the line of duty, has reopened after a $2 million renovation, required to expand the wall due to 9/11 and covid. The memorial just south of the North Cove in Battery Park City was built in the late ’90s and includes an engraved wall of names and a reflecting pool. The photos are by Kevin O’Toole for the BPCA.

  1. That Woolworth PH is stunning and unique, but the layout is wayyy too funky and vertical to command that kind of price especially considering the easily $10-20M buildout that still needs to be done (which will take *forever*). Lack of interior elevator/useless outdoor space really kill it from a livability standpoint and as the price keeps falling that >$500k/yr taxes & maintenance starts looking like real money. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see it go under $20M.
