The Friends of Washington Market Park will host two movie nights this fall: Saturday, Sept. 10, 7:15p is West Side Story (the new one) and Saturday, Sept. 17, is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Both shows are at 7:15.
STRINGS-ON-HUDSON THURSDAY NIGHT
BPCA will host Invoke as part of its Strings-on-Hudson series on Thursday, Sept. 1, 5:30p, at Belvedere Plaza. “Invoke encompasses traditions from across America, including bluegrass, Appalachian fiddle tunes, and jazz. The Austin, TX quartet’s original compositions seamlessly weave these varied styles together to create truly unique music.”
LAW SCHOOL DEAN NOMINATED FOR CITY PLANNING
Anthony Crowell, the dean of New York Law School on Leonard, has been appointed by the mayor to the City Planning Commission (he still has to be approved by the City Council). He has a B.A in urban policy and planning from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from American University. Crowell began his career at the International City/County Management Association in Washington, D.C., engaging in land use policy work, and later served as a law clerk at the State and Local Legal Center.
BPC LOW ON POLIO VACCINE
I was a bit surprised to see Battery Park City show up on the low-vaccine count scales for polio, which has crept back into the discussion after a couple cases were reported in Rockland County. The virus was also detected last week in wastewater and sewage samples in the city.
