That note came through on Nov. 2. After trying first the Battery Park City Authority then the Department of Transportation, I figured out that the Department of Education actually maintains the bridge. I wrote them on Nov. 3 and they replied on Nov. 4: “Hi – it is fixed.” And C. got a ride up the next day.

So, I am adding this here so 1) I remember that this is a DOE responsibility and 2) if you’ve given up on the elevator in recent weeks, give it a try now!
